From two thousand feet, the salt evaporation ponds stop being industry and become painting. Brine, algae, and mineral concentrate the water into fields of colour that no filter produces and no screen quite prepares you for. I have flown these basins from 2017 to 2022, following the same ponds through season and drawdown, watching a single cell turn from rose to rust to the pale of dried salt.
The project is one body of work, not a loose set of pictures. It moves in series. Precipice holds the edges where one basin gives way to the next. Supernova and Separation follow colour at its most saturated and at its cleanest seam. Aftermath and Terminal arrive at residue, at the last cell where the water ends. Each frame is made true to scale, printed as an archival pigment print, and titled like a place you could stand.
